According to the health care emergency center, the substance was some kind of powder. Six people were examined by medical personnel on-site and then taken to hospital, reports P4 Uppland.

"A suspicious item has been noticed in the City Hall. The emergency services are on site and have secured the envelope," Uppsala Municipality writes on its website.

According to UNT, the bomb squad arrived at the City Hall just before 6 p.m. Uppsala Region later announced that those taken to hospital are not in danger.

"We have made a medical assessment of the patients received. They are currently assessed to show no signs of illness," says Director of Health and Medical Services Mikael Köhler.
