Six Swedes advance – Johaug eliminated: "Brutal"

The Tour de Ski is finally underway. In the initial sprint qualification in Italian Toblach, Johanna Hagström was the best Swedish athlete, finishing in second place. It went much faster than I thought, she says to Viaplay.

In total, six Swedish cross-country skiing stars have advanced to the quarterfinals on the women's side – but Ebba Andersson is unfortunately not one of them.

It didn't feel like I got going and then I got a bit stressed, says Andersson to Viaplay.

Norwegian star Therese Johaug, who made her comeback, also failed to advance from the qualifying round. It was her first sprint competition in 1,492 days.

It was brutal, Johaug states in Viaplay.

It's been four, five years since I last did it. I'm very pleased, I finished 40th, eight seconds behind. I didn't think I'd make it, so I have to be pleased, she continues.

Besides Hagström, Linn Svahn, Moa Lundgren, Märta Rosenberg, Moa Ilar, and Maja Dahlqvist have advanced on the Swedish side.

Federica Cassol, Italy, was the fastest of all in the prologue.

It was a huge surprise, but fun that it was an Italian, we needed that, says Hagström about the qualifying winner.

In the men's qualifying round, Norwegian Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, unsurprisingly, was the fastest. On the Swedish side, Edvin Anger did a great qualifying round and finished fourth. Emil Danielsson and Oskar Svensson also advanced.

The finals begin at 14.30.
