Six soldiers were killed and two injured when their vehicle was blown up by an explosive charge in the state of Michoacán de Ocampo in western Mexico. This is shown by a military incident report.
The incident occurred on Tuesday.
President Claudia Sheinbaum regrets the deaths in a statement and conveys solidarity with the victims.
The region is plagued by violence linked to drug cartels. It happens that criminals hide homemade landmines or attack soldiers with armed drones. Several soldiers have been killed previously.
Cartel-related violence has claimed around 480,000 lives in the country since 2006, while over 120,000 people are missing.
