AFP reports, citing the Israeli military, that infrastructure belonging to the Iran-backed Shiite militia Hezbollah in southern Lebanon is being attacked.

The attacks come the day after Israel and Lebanon agreed to extend an existing but fragile ceasefire by 45 days.

Israel is officially at war with Hezbollah in Lebanon, but the Shiite militia is not participating in the US-led negotiations. According to Israel, Friday night's attacks were also directed at Hezbollah-linked targets.

Hezbollah attacked Israel on March 2 in retaliation for Israeli and US attacks on Iran on February 28, which led to Israel's escalation in Lebanon. Over 2,700 Lebanese have been killed and over a million have been displaced.

The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, which is now being extended, has been in place since April 17, but both sides have accused each other of violating it on an almost daily basis. One of Israel's main demands is that Hezbollah disarm.
