At least six UN soldiers have been killed in an attack on a UN facility in the Kordofan region of central Sudan, the peacekeeping force UNISFA said in a statement.

Six more soldiers were injured. All of them are from Bangladesh.

The Sudanese government condemns the attack in Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan state, and accuses the paramilitary armed group RSF of being behind it.

Witnesses reportedly saw a drone hit the building.

The fighting in the bloody civil war has intensified in Kordofan since the RSF recently completely forced the Sudanese army out of the city of al-Fashir – the last significant stronghold of government forces in the Darfur region in the west.
