In a statement on X, de la Espriella, who took office on Saturday, writes that the men were killed in three separate raids.
“For the criminals, a choice remains: submit to justice or face the legitimate power of the republic,” he writes.
The Trump-friendly de la Espriella was elected on the promise of fighting "narco-terrorism without a ceasefire," with both the military and mega-prisons, and he has the support of both the United States and Israel.
But on his first day, de la Espriella saw evidence of the violent capital that guerrilla groups and drug traffickers possess. A police officer was killed and a security guard was injured in two separate attacks.
