Six dead and nine injured in Brooklyn townhouse fire as 200 firefighters respond

The fire ravaged a terraced house in a row of 25 adjoining wooden properties early Thursday.

About 200 firefighters were called. The house was fully engulfed when the fire service arrived.

The fire broke out through all the windows and met us at the front door, says Kevin Woods, head of the fire service.

The firefighters managed to rescue several people by entering through the back of the house. The fire was under control after about three hours.

The fire service reported that three firefighters and two police officers were injured.

The cause of the fire is still unclear.
