It looked as though the match at Gamla Ullevi would end 0-0. Then top scorer Isak Bjerkebo scored the goal he and Sirius had been waiting for.
The goal came from a brilliant move: Joakim Persson broke free down the right wing and found Bjerkebo, who scored in the 78th minute.
When I see "Jocke" get it in behind, I know I have to be there, and it was so nice to see it go in, Bjerkebo tells TV4.
It was his 14th goal of the season - but his first since the 3-4 away loss to Mjällby in August, which was followed by six straight goalless matches.
Incredibly nice. I've had many opportunities, says Bjerkebo, explaining that he has had some problems with his groin.
Sirius were without suspended midfielder Marcus Lindberg, and striker Jesper Uneken was injured as recently as Friday.
It's incredibly strong, says Bjerkebo.
Sirius, who are chasing their first Swedish Championship title, went into the international break with three straight wins. Their fourth straight win, against Gais, means the Uppsala team are now 11 and 13 points ahead of Hammarby and Djurgården, who meet on Sunday.
