Four-time Olympic Games medalist Siobhan Haughey, Hong Kong, will miss the World Championship in swimming in Singapore which starts on Sunday.
The reason is a back injury.
"I have withdrawn from the World Championship in Singapore due to a back injury. I am sorry to miss the opportunity to compete against the best in the world, but I must do what is best for me", writes the 27-year-old in a post on social media.
Haughey took silver on 100 and 200 meter freestyle in the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021 and bronze on both distances last year in Paris. Sarah Sjöström won surprisingly Olympic Games gold on 100 meter freestyle.
Haughey is also the reigning World Champion on 200 meter freestyle.
