Jannik Sinner fired his fitness coach Umberto Ferrara after the Italian world number one tested positive for doping last year. Sinner stated that he had ingested the banned substance clostebol when he was being treated for a finger injury and the penalty was a three-month suspension.
Now Sinner is re-hiring Ferrara.
"Umberto has played an important role in Jannik's development up to today and his return reflects a renewed focus on continuity and performance at the highest level" writes Sinner's team in a statement.
Ferrara replaces Marco Panichi who had to leave Sinner's team just before Wimbledon. This after Panichi allegedly leaked secrets that should not have left the locker room. Including that Sinner cried for fifteen minutes after the final loss in the French Championships, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Sinner also fired his physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi after the controversy.
