For the third time in a row, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will face each other in a Grand Slam final. The two tennis giants will compete for the US Open title in yet another dream final on Sunday. It was here it started, says Sinner after his semi-final victory.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will meet in Sunday's US Open final. The top-ranked duo had no major problems advancing from their semifinals.

Sinner and Alcaraz have dominated world tennis in recent years. The last time someone else won a Grand Slam was when Novak Djokovic took home the US Open in 2023.

"Are other players"

But the US Open is special, says reigning champion Sinner.

It feels like this is where our rivalry began (in the quarterfinals in 2022) in a fantastic match. We are two completely different players now, he says.

Sinner has won the last three Grand Slam tournaments on hard court and with the 3–1 win over Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (6–1, 3–6, 6–3, 6–4), he became the only fourth male player to reach all finals in the same year.

It has been a fantastic season. Grand Slams are the most important tournaments we have, says Sinner.

First since Federer

If he wins on Sunday, the Italian will be the first to defend a US Open title since Roger Federer in 2008.

Alcaraz may have made it to one fewer final this year. But his form is undoubtedly good. On Friday evening, the Spaniard swept away legend Novak Djokovic in three straight sets 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-2. He has not yet lost a set in the tournament.

It's a fantastic feeling to be in the final again, said Alcaraz after his semifinal.

In addition to the US Open title and the prize money of approximately 47 million kronor, the title as world number one is also at stake in Sunday's final, which starts at 8 pm Swedish time.

It will be a very special day. It's another fantastic final, says Sinner.
