This is about a so-called APT attack, which aims to knock out important social functions such as healthcare, telecommunications, water and electricity, according to Singapore's Minister for Home Affairs, K. Shanmugam.

If the attack succeeds, it is possible to carry out espionage and cause major disruptions for Singapore and its inhabitants, says Shanmugam.

Between 2021 and 2024, the number of suspected APT attacks against Singapore has more than quadrupled.

On Saturday, China's embassy in Singapore expressed its "strong displeasure" with media reports linking UNC3886 to China.
