“Europe needs clear and coherent legislation that fully responds to the needs of citizens and businesses,” writes Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in a statement about more “effective and transparent” legislation.
A new plan on Tuesday promises laws that are easier to understand and enforce and aims to wash away overlaps and inconsistencies. EU member states will also get help to tackle areas of the single market where some countries impose more complex requirements than EU rules require.
