The starting field was of the highest international caliber when the absolute world elite was in place to measure forces in the classic O-ringen.

During the first stage, it was again Simona Aebersold, fresh World Championship gold medalist and representing IFK Göteborg, who drew the longest straw.

The victory was reminiscent of her triumph in Finnish Kuopio just a few weeks ago.

It was tough and I got a stomach ache, cramps, maybe it was a bit too hot. It was something I had to work with on a tough course, says Aebersold to Radio O-Ringen.

Aebersold passed the Finnish veteran Venla Harju - who has not competed in O-Ringen since 2009 - halfway through the race, and then Alexandersson took third place in the finish.
