A 67-year-old man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for murdering a man on Gotland this summer. The victim was shot in the face at close range with a shotgun.

The murder took place in the 67-year-old's home in Hemse, on Midsummer's Day, June 21 of this year.

The defendant has denied the crime and claimed that two unknown men entered the home and shot the man dead.

However, the information is contradicted by a man who witnessed the murder, whose testimony, according to the Gotland District Court, is also supported by the rest of the investigation. The District Court therefore convicts the man of murder.

The victim and the 67-year-old had previously been colleagues and sometimes hung out, according to the investigation.
