The preliminary investigation against a one-legged woman who was shot by the police in Växjö in August last year has been dropped, writes Smålandsposten (SMP).
Last week, the prosecutor charged the police officer with misconduct for "obviously unjustifiably" shooting the woman in her remaining leg.
The woman was aggressive and waving an axe and a toy gun during the incident. She was therefore suspected of gross threats against an official and gross unlawful threats.
However, prosecutor Marcus Sjöstrand – who has seen a video of the incident – points out, among other things, that he must be able to prove intent.
The woman claimed to have been completely absorbed in listening to gangster rap and therefore not aware of what she was doing.
Therefore, I cannot prove the crime, says the prosecutor.
