The number of shootings has more than halved this summer, compared to last summer, shows new statistics from the police. On the other hand, the bombings continue to increase.

During the three summer months of June, July and August 2025, 40 shootings occurred in Sweden, of which seven were fatal, according to the statistics. The majority of the shootings took place in the Stockholm area.

Compared to the previous summer, the shootings have thus decreased sharply, as 96 shootings occurred then, of which 17 were fatal.

Since 2022, the shootings in Sweden have decreased year by year. Up to and including August this year, 113 shootings have occurred in Sweden, compared to 276 during the same period in 2022.

When it comes to explosions, the trend is instead increasing: During the summer of 2025, 39 explosions occurred, compared to 26 during the same period in 2024.
