It was at 19:00 when the police were alerted that a person had been shot. He was flown to the hospital by ambulance helicopter but at 21:30 the police announced that he had died and that relatives have been notified.
We have an ongoing hunt for one or more perpetrators, but at present no one has been arrested, says the police's press spokesperson Nadya Norton.
The area is still cordoned off and technicians are remaining to secure evidence.
The police have initiated a preliminary investigation into murder.
