Home Affairs Minister Bruno Retailleau reports that five people are seriously injured.

What started as a shooting at a restaurant ended with a brawl between rival gangs, says Retailleau to the French TV channel BFMTV.

Hundreds of people were involved in the brawl, according to the Home Affairs Minister. He mentions as many as between 400 and 600 people.

The incident is believed to be linked to drug trafficking. Bruno Retailleau warns that France is at a "breaking point" regarding drug-related violence, reports BFMTV.

The shooting took place late on Thursday evening. For one of the injured, a 15-year-old, the situation is reported to be critical. At least two of the injured are teenagers, according to French media.

The Vienne department writes on X that the shooting led to "tensions" between groups. The police are reported to have strengthened their presence in the area on Friday.
