Two more tourists were injured when they fell during the shooting.
The suspected shooter allegedly opened fire on people at the popular tourist destination, known for its pre-Aztec pyramids, on Monday. The perpetrator then allegedly took his own life.
A firearm, a knife and ammunition were found at the scene.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum writes on X that security forces have been deployed and that she is in contact with the Canadian government.
"What happened today in Teotihuacán deeply saddens us. I express my sincere solidarity with those affected and their families," Sheinbaum writes.
The motive for the shooting is unclear.
