During the night towards Monday, the film gala Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards took place, after the nomination event was previously cancelled due to the fires in Los Angeles. The gala is considered to give a hint about the result in the upcoming Oscars gala.
The prize for best female lead role went to Demi Moore, for her role in "The Substance". It may indicate that the actress may have a chance to get her first gold statuette in about a week.
Best male lead role went to Timothée Chalamet for the role as musician Bob Dylan in "A Complete Unknown".
Despite the Oscar favourite "Wicked" having the most nominations with five in this year's SAG awards, the musical surprisingly went without prizes. Instead, the most prestigious prize, the one for best film ensemble, went to "The Conclave" with Ralph Fiennes in the lead role.
The TV drama "Shōgun" received, among other things, prizes for both best male and female actors in a drama series.
