SHL is tightening penalties for diving. Among other things, fines are being increased and suspensions are being introduced for repeated offenses. We are heading in the wrong direction, SHL sports director Johan Hemlin tells TV4.

The fine is doubled for players who earn over 50,000 kronor a month - according to Expressen - from 5,000 to 10,000 kronor. Players who have three offenses within a year will be suspended, and clubs whose players are frequently caught filming must develop an action plan.

We don't think it's a huge problem, but it has escalated and we are heading in the wrong direction, says Johan Hemlin about the decision made together with the Swedish Ice Hockey Association's disciplinary committee.

Frölunda's tough national team defender Christian Folin made headlines when he launched an outspoken attack on the increase in filming in the SHL in an interview with TV4 before Christmas.

He is positive about the tightening.

"It's a good start, a step in the right direction. Then I think we should be even stricter and shut them down," he tells TV4.

The new guidelines apply immediately.
