The altercation, which was captured on TV4, occurred during the break between the first and second periods. When Shinnimin and Falk bumped into each other, Falk made a comment about a sequence in the final period. This resulted in an altercation in the players' corridor and a security guard had to step in and handle the situation. Both Shinnimin and Falk were reported to the disciplinary committee after the incident and the decision was made on Sunday evening.
"He grabbed me from behind and started talking about the slashing. He thought I was filming and started the usual nonsense," Shinnimin told TV4 on Saturday.
Falk will speak on Sunday on Skellefteå's website.
"What happened is unfortunate, and we both share responsibility. I reacted when I was obstructed and pushed. I take responsibility for my part and understand that as a coach I have a special responsibility for my actions. There was no intention on my part to hurt anyone or escalate the situation, but my intention was to move on. I respect the process, will learn from what happened and am fully focused on my mission and the team moving forward," he says in a statement.
Skellefteå won the match 1–0 after a penalty shootout.
