The organisation Freedom Flotilla will make a new attempt to reach the Gaza Strip with emergency aid.
"On 13 July 2025, our boat #Handala will set sail from Syracuse, Italy, to break Israel's illegal blockade", the organisation writes on X.
"This mission is for the children of Gaza", it continues.
Freedom Flotilla made a highly publicised attempt to reach Gaza earlier this year with the boat Madleen. On board were, among others, climate activist Greta Thunberg. Before Madleen reached the coast of Gaza, it was boarded by Israel and escorted to the Israeli port in the city of Ashdod.
The boarding was seen as a violation of international law since the vessel was in international waters.
