It is said to be an Indian merchant ship that was attacked near Yemeni waters. All 14 crew members have been rescued by the Yemeni coast guard, Indian Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said on X.
"India strongly condemns this unprovoked attack," he wrote.
Of the 14 crew members, 13 are reported to be Indian.
Yemen's internationally recognized government accuses the Houthi movement of being behind the attack, AFP reports. The Houthis have previously claimed responsibility for attacks in the Red Sea.
