Both Henseleit and Kuwaki finished at five strokes under par overall at Royal Lytham & St Annes in England.
Henseleit forced a playoff by sinking a long putt for birdie on Sunday's 18th and final hole.
On the second playoff hole, bad luck struck the German. Her tee shot hit a spectator and the ball bounced into a large bush. Although Henseleit got the ball out, she failed to save par to extend the playoff and the victory went to the Japanese player.
Doldisen Kuwaki plays on her home tour in Japan and has no standout results in the previous six major tournaments she has played in over the last two seasons.
