"My team and I will continue to take one step at a time while I work to get back to 100 percent. It's no small task – every day so far has come with new challenges", writes Shiffrin, who recently returned after the abdominal injury that kept her away from competing for two months.
Shiffrin, with 99 World Cup victories in her career, is instead choosing to focus all her energy on competing in giant slalom and slalom during the final of the Alpine World Championship in Austria.
In the team combination, one skier skis downhill and the other slalom. Lindsey Vonn, with 82 World Cup victories to her credit, said earlier in the week that she would love to compete in a team with Mikaela Shiffrin – if it were possible.
