Mikaela Shiffrin had to leave the slope in Killington, USA, in a stretcher under the second run on Saturday. She lost her balance, crashed into the safety net, and lay there while medical personnel rushed to her aid.

In a video that the skier published on X, she can be seen – lying in what appears to be a hospital bed – being bandaged.

Not too much reason to worry right now, I just can't move. I have a pretty big abrasion and something got stuck under my fingers, says Mikaela Shiffrin and films a person applying pressure to a wound on Shiffrin's hip.

I'm so sorry that I scared people, she continues and adds that all X-ray examinations look good.

The American will miss Sunday's slalom. In the post, she writes that she will be "cheering from the sidelines".
