She is closely followed by her "Fortnight" colleague Post Malone with nine nominations. He is nominated together with Swift eight times and gets the ninth for his country hit "I had some help".
Nominated in the category Artist of the Year are Ariana Grande, Bad Bunny, Eminem, Sabrina Carpenter, and SZA.
Katy Perry returns to the VMA stage for the first time since 2017, when she hosted the award ceremony. She will both perform and receive the honorary Video Vanguard Award.
Among previous recipients are names like Shakira, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, and Missy Elliott.
