This year's gala has toned down the glamour somewhat due to the devastating fires in Los Angeles earlier this year. The Oscars gala will instead celebrate "the work that unites the global film community" and pay tribute to those who fought against the forest fires.
Among the films that are doing well ahead of the gala are "Anora", "The Conclave" and "The Brutalist", while an earlier favorite, "Emilia Pérez", has fallen in the pre-speculations. Swedish director Magnus von Horn's film "The Girl with the Needle" is competing for a prize in the category of best international film.
