The Left Party's party secretary Aron Etzler has previously announced that he intends to leave his post during the winter.

Now the party has chosen Eskilstuna politician Maria Forsberg as deputy party secretary, she is also the election committee's proposal to take over after Etzler.

"It feels incredibly exciting to step into this role. The Left Party is in a process of change where we are growing and developing into a broader and more action-oriented party", says Maria Forsberg in a comment.

Forsberg has worked as a high school teacher for 27 years and has held various political assignments for the Left Party in Eskilstuna for the past 15 years. She is also chairperson of the party's Sörmland district.
