The number of VMAs, important messages to the public, sent about suspected dangerous objects has increased sharply in 2025, reports P4 Sjuhärad.

So far this year, 13 such warnings have been issued. Last year, a total of five were issued, while no VMAs were issued at all regarding dangerous objects in 2023.

A total of 44 VMAs have been issued this year, the vast majority of which are related to forest fires. This is the highest number since the record year of 2018, when severe forest fires pushed up the numbers.

From a focus on mostly fires, to the fact that it is a dangerous object, it is something that I have reflected on, says Gülsen Bergsdal at Sveriges Radio's broadcast management, which broadcasts the VMA, to P4.
