Bankruptcies in Finland are on the rise. In the 12-month period ending in November, the number had risen to the highest level since 1997, according to Statistics Finland.

Finland has been experiencing economic problems since 2020, due to weak demand in Europe and the effects of sanctions against neighboring Russia due to the offensive war against Ukraine.

During the measurement period from November 2024 to November 2025, more than 3,800 companies filed for bankruptcy in Finland.

Surveys show that one fifth of small and medium-sized enterprises in Finland describe the financial situation as poor or very poor, with the greatest challenges among sole proprietorships and companies in the trade, construction and service sectors.
