The number of people employed in the private sector fell by an average of 13,500 per week over the past four weeks, preliminary figures from ADP show.

The measurement period ending on November 8 shows further weakening in the US labor market. A week ago, ADP reported a decline of 2,500 jobs per week.

Statistics from private players such as payroll administrator ADP have received greater attention since the shutdown of the US government apparatus limited federal job statistics during the fall.
