Erik Höjgård-Olsen, meteorologist at SMHI, says that the storm was most intense from Småland up to southern Gästrikland. In total, over 10,000 lightning strikes have been recorded across the country.

In the last half hour we have had just over 2,000 and around 3,000 during the half hour before that, which is proof that it is slowing down, he says.

The storm has moved further towards the Baltic coast. In addition, a yellow warning has been issued for heavy rain in Västerbotten and Västernorrland. The warning extends until approximately 2 o'clock on Monday.

The thunderstorms have caused some damage in some places. Aftonbladet reports, among other things, about a barn in Haninge south of Stockholm that caught fire, and a water leak in Huddinge that occurred as a result of the thunderstorm. In Kalmar, a football match had to be canceled when rain and thunder rolled into the area, writes Barometern.
