Around 20 young people have been taken to hospital with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning after a party in Lørenskog outside Oslo, local media report.

During the student party, a diesel generator was used, while the windows were kept closed, says Lørenskog Mayor Amine Mabel Andresen.

A number of young people have been injured as a result of this, she tells VG.

According to Norwegian TV2, there are 20 young people involved, but the injuries are described as mild and no one is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Amine Mabel Andresen says the municipality is following the case and is in close dialogue with healthcare. She also urges parents to talk to their children if they have been at the party.

"If anyone notices symptoms, it is extremely important that they seek emergency medical attention," she told local media.
