The high-scoring match turned in Pittsburgh's favour when Elmer Söderblom scored in the seventh minute of the second period, cutting the score to 1–2.
Rickard Rakell followed with another goal just a few minutes later, and his teammates continued to pour in goals.
In the third period, Rakell struck again, extending the lead to 7–3.
Pittsburgh is now in second place in its division. The top three teams are guaranteed a spot in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
