"Work has been stopped in part of the area," Martin Gidlund, communications manager for the project, told TT.

According to Gidlund, the affected people reportedly experienced nausea and headaches.

SSAB is building an electric steel mill in Luleå.

"We are now investigating whether there are any contaminants in the soil, and samples have been taken. Responses to some soil and air samples have already come back and have shown no signs of contamination," Gidlund says.

We're now continuing and taking more tests. I don't know when the results will come.

Work will not resume until the results have been received.
