Iranian authorities have arrested eleven members of a Kurdish group banned in Iran.

Those arrested are accused of preparing for sabotage, according to state-run Iranian television.

The individuals are said to belong to the PJAK group, which is classified as a terrorist movement by the regime in Tehran. The group originated from the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party), which the EU has labeled a terrorist organization. PJAK was formed in 2004.

"They (the arrested) were identified and detained before they could carry out an act," the Iranian news agency Fars reported, citing a commander in Iran's Revolutionary Guard.
