Several people have been killed in attacks on Ukraine and Russia early on Wednesday, according to local authority reports. At least 183 Russian drones have been sent against Ukrainian territory during the night, says the Ukrainian air force.

Two people are reported to have been killed in a Russian attack on the Ukrainian city of Kherson.

"As a result of the enemy's attack, a 62-year-old woman and an older man, whose identity is currently being established, were killed," writes Governor Oleksandr Prokudin on Telegram.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that 53 Ukrainian drones were intercepted during the night, most of them over the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, reports AFP. Three people are reported to have been killed about 1.5 miles from the border.

Information from the war is consistently difficult to verify. Both Russia and Ukraine deny having directed attacks against civilians.

Russia has attacked a power plant in Nizhyn in the Ukrainian region of Chernihiv, reports Ansa, citing the state-owned Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform. Thousands of residents were reported to be without power on Wednesday morning.

The Dnipropetrovsk region has also been attacked by Russia during the night, resulting in human and infrastructure damage.
