Three people have been killed and 13 injured in an attack on a residential area in the small town of Balakliya in northeastern Ukraine, according to rescue services. Four children are said to be among the injured, AFP reports.
The first lady, Olena Zelenska, criticizes the attack.
"The attacker destroyed several apartment buildings and a preschool. An inhuman attack that cannot be justified," she writes on X.
Images distributed by the Ukrainian military show shattered apartment buildings and fires.
Balaklija is located in the Kharkiv region, sixty to seventy kilometers southeast of the city of Kharkiv in the direction of the front line in eastern Ukraine.
