At least 21 people have been killed in airstrikes on Gaza, the Hamas-run Civil Defense says. Israel's prime minister says five "leading terrorists" have been killed in Gaza.

The death toll from the Israeli attacks continued to rise on Saturday. The information from the Gaza Civil Defense comes from Mahmud Abbas' spokesman. He says the raids targeted five sites in Gaza and that the Israeli attacks were "a clear violation of the ceasefire in Gaza."

Three people were killed in a raid on a car in Gaza City, while another three were killed when a house was attacked in Deir al-Balah.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announces that five "leading terrorists" within the Hamas movement have been killed in Gaza.

Both the Civil Defense and Israel state that one of the fatalities was a person in the southern part of Gaza, probably in the Nuseirat area.

Israel claims that an armed "terrorist" crossed the demarcation line, known as the Yellow Line, which separates humanitarian areas in southern Gaza. According to Israel, the person fired at Israeli soldiers, who returned fire and killed the person.

Israel said in a statement that its military forces continue to uphold the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, adding that direct threats to the ceasefire will be "eliminated."

Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10. But skirmishes, clashes and attacks have continued. Both Israel and Hamas accuse the other party of violating the ceasefire.
