The incident occurred in the Ras Laffan industrial zone, a hub for liquefied natural gas. The explosion was reportedly caused by a “technical incident” while personnel were restarting operations at a facility.
A journalist from the AFP news agency said he saw flames and columns of smoke from 20 kilometers away.
