The incident occurred at Queen Louise's Bridge, which connects the city district of Indre By with Nørrebro, at around 15:30. According to the police, it is an accident.

In addition to many being injured, around 20 people have been taken to hospital to receive crisis support.

The car driver had not been questioned by the police by Wednesday evening. Earlier, the police stated that the man was one of the two critically injured, but that is not correct.

We will question him to determine what happened, says Tommy Lauersen at the Copenhagen Police to TV2.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver first crashed into a roadwork and lost control of the vehicle – then drove into a cyclist and several people at an outdoor café and on the sidewalk, reports news agency Ritzau.

Once the driver has been questioned, the police will decide whether to suspect him of a crime or not.

According to a TV2 employee, there were many people at the scene who were sitting in the sun by the water. The car allegedly came at high speed and crashed into benches and tables on the sidewalk outside a café before coming to a stop.
