It is still unclear what caused the explosions, which shook a military facility near the city of al-Eis overnight Monday, the state-run Syrian news agency Sana reported. The public is being urged to stay away from the area.
Among the injured is a civilian who was hit by shrapnel. Others are reported to be having difficulty breathing.
The incident is the latest in a series of explosions in recent days. Last week, 11 people were killed in an explosion at a military facility in the eastern part of the country. Another 14 people lost their lives in a separate explosion earlier in September.
