Explosions are also being reported from Jalalabad, halfway between Kabul and the border with Pakistan.
Last week, fresh fighting erupted between Afghanistan and Pakistan, which accuses the Taliban government in Kabul of failing to act against Afghan extremist groups that regularly carry out terrorist attacks in the neighboring country. Pakistan's defense minister has called the ongoing conflict an "open war."
More than 8,000 Afghans in border areas near Pakistan have been forced to flee their homes since Thursday, the Taliban government said on Tuesday. Around 40 Afghan civilians are reported to have been killed.
The figures have not been verified by an independent party.
