The Norwegian Royal Court has extended visiting hours for the public mourning King Harald and wishing to pay their respects at the coffin in the palace chapel. There will be extra evening hours until 11 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

At lunchtime on Saturday, the queue was about 1.2 kilometres long and the waiting time around seven hours, NTB reports from the scene.

King Harald will be buried on September 9 in Oslo Cathedral.

Sweden's King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, along with several other members of the Swedish royal family, will travel there to attend the funeral.
