The alarm came shortly after 6 p.m. on Wednesday when a fire broke out in an apartment in Bromölla, outside Kristianstad. According to information from the rescue service to SVT Skåne, the fire started in a deep fryer.
Seven people were injured and taken to hospital. Two of them were children and five were adults, two of whom had critical smoke inhalation injuries. One of the injured was a firefighter.
The fire was extinguished by 7:30 p.m. The entire third floor was evacuated, but according to the fire service, the apartment where the fire started was the most badly damaged.
