The helicopter had been involved in extinguishing a fire in a national park and, according to the governor of the province of San Juan, there were both firefighters and police officers on board.
It is unclear why the helicopter crashed; at the time of the accident, it was on its way from one forest fire to another in a neighboring province on the border with Chile.
