The indictment in Södertörn District Court includes, among other things, gross abuse of power against children, gross assault in a legal case, gross threats against an official, gross arson and gross vandalism, according to a press release.
A man in his 40s is charged with all crimes. Five of the defendants are suspected of having abducted and hidden three children placed in a daycare center from their family home last spring.
The suspected principal is being held in absentia and is in a country that does not have an extradition agreement with Sweden.
There are a total of 40 plaintiffs in the case.
"The crimes have mainly been directed against social service officials and elected municipal politicians with the aim of influencing their decision-making. The crime is of a systemic nature and very serious," says prosecutor Sara Norling in the press release.
The trial begins on January 23.
